For anyone who is interested in making this mod work, you might want to load up Factorio 1.1 and install just the original Robot Mining Site mod by judos & Cordina. Its last update was in 12/8/21 but it seemed to work although I did not thoroughly test it. In that original version, there are four areas in the mining structure that are clickable but only three actually do something. The lamp area is the Mining Site Controller and has the typical circuit GUI and logistic connection choice. The R box is the Robot Chest and is where you place the mining robots. The Robot Mining Site (a misnomer) is where the gathered ore is placed.

A later forked version installed a filter window that would appear in the left corner of our screen when the Mining Site Controller was clicked on and using this would choose which ore the mining drones would gather (the original version had the bots mine everything in range regardless). But that version also broke the circuit function. And HERE, in Factorio 2.0, that filter window does not appear at all...and so you can't choose an ore, and so the bots will not mine. In fact, when you try to place bots in the bot chest they...just...disappear.
