I'd been looking for a mod to specifically increase the cost of the infinite technologies for a while now, since I've been playing Space Age at a pretty slow pace and accidentally end up quite powerful from all the infinite research levels while in between projects. I've been increasing the base research cost as well, but to slow down the infinite researches as much as I'd like would make all the essential researches take quite long as well.

I'm looking forward to trying this alongside the "Revert Mining Productivity Cost" mod to slow down how quickly all the powerful Space Age productivity researches add up.

Neat, glad to hear there's an interest. Funny enough, I set out to make this mod with the exact opposite intent: increase the cost of normal research, to match the cost of high level infinite research. I'm a quite slow player like you, reaching Vulcanus for the first time at Mining Prod 60. I don't think it means much difference though, since I'm clearing every single Demolisher instantly with Physical Damage boosts and whatnot.

This mod is super new, so if there's something obviously missing, do suggest it. The iron is still hot, so the time to strike is now.

Ah that's interesting!

Hmmm I don't know if it exactly fits in the scope of the mod, but I wonder how feasible it would be to alter which infinite research costs used geometric progression (or what exponent is used) and which use arithmetic progression (as listed on the wiki: https://wiki.factorio.com/Technologies#Space_Age )?

Specifically I'm thinking of being able to make the Mining Productivity infinite research use a 1.5 exponent progression like all the other productivity researches instead of a flat +1000 (or the flat +2500 when using the "Revert Mining Productivity Cost" mod, which seems to be working great alongside this mod). Although perhaps other players would want to change all the productivity researches into a flat +1000 progression instead (or perhaps just change the exponent to something smaller/bigger).

I believe the "Technology Price Multiplier" also can affect the strength of the geometric progression on infinite research, but I think it's a more simple, global approach.
