This crane mod sets to replace the need for a line of 3/6 inserters (typically found at train stations) with one 1x3/1x6 inserter entity for UPS saving purposes in Pyanodons overhaul.

The mod was made in collaboration with pY's devs and (unlike some other mods) provides no cheaty gameplay advantages and is accurate to the overhaul's balancing: cranes size, power draw, speed, recipe, etc. are all set to be at the x3/x6 amounts as what inserters they're based on have. Each crane is unlocked at the same technology as the inserter it's based on. The mod is fully compatible with Enable all Feature Flags' stack inserters. The graphics (sprites and icons) were put together by me but are stored in the pyindustrygraphics mod to avoid licensing issues.

If you play on other languages rather than ENG I could implement a translation for your localization: create a discussion thread and write the translation for "Crane" and "Short Crane" items in your language.

Big thank you for helping me to make this mod goes to notnotmelon, jncv87, Quintuple and _CodeGreen

upd As of 29.03.25 jncv87's fix has been added as a required dependency. The fix changes how cranes are getting their boost (from a bigger handsize instead of faster speed) and addresses the UPS issues caused by the initial method. As a result, all cranes will have a slightly lower speed (not because they were made slower but because of the way inserters interact with items on belts) so if you used 1.0.3 cranes to insert from or to belts you might wanna check if their updated speed is still enough to do the job. The fix has a few known minor bugs (for example, inconsistent automatic upgrade planner logic - you have to specify cranes in some upgrade situations yourself) but those bugs are inevitable due to the nature of the fix and how it manages to change handsizes on the fly upon researching them. At the end of the day the fix is a net positive overall.
