b Tech unlock recipies are getting unlocked with the option disabled.

As said in the title, I have "recipe unlocks" toggled off but every time I generate a game, it still randomizes what is unlocked by what tech. I am not sure what is causing this to happen.

It seems to be occurring from having "item" randomization on even if recipe unlocks aren't.

If I understand correctly, this is intended behavior.

Item randomization will make it appear like recipes have swapped around. What actually is happening, though isn't that recipe unlocks are changing, but the items themselves are changing "where they are" in the game. So, for example, iron ore is found in the ground, but maybe construction robots "become" the new iron ore. Now construction robots will be found in the ground where iron ore normally is. Construction robots will now also smelt into iron plates... or well, whatever replaced iron plates, which possibly makes it seem like recipes are randomized as well, but they're not actually, strictly speaking.

While I had to decide what "where something is" meant manually, the current set of choices is really the only one that makes sense. The exact thing that you get when you craft the recipe that takes 3 copper cables and 1 iron plate, for example, isn't really an inherent property of that item, but rather something about it's placement in the game progression. Maybe for you it became a boiler. Of course, it would be confusing for the recipe that turns 3 copper cable and 1 iron plate into 1 boiler to still be called "electronic circuit", so I do update recipe names/icons, but "under the hood" it's still the same recipe. So that seemingly "randomized" technology tree actually has all the exact same recipes in the same spots, just with a different icon because another item took the place of what it made before.

Again, that's assuming something else isn't messed up, but it's my best guess at what's happening without further information.

I wish I could say all this in just a few words in the game settings, since I know it's confusing. I'll consider expanding the tooltip description.
