A YAFC-style production planner inside the game. A linear solver balances loops, byproducts and multi-output recipes, and it handles Pyanodon-sized factories. Open it with the shortcut button or Ctrl+Shift+Y.
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.
Version: 1.1.0
Date: 2026-11-01
Info:
- The first big update since release. It brings together everything from 1.0.2 to 1.0.10, listed version by version below.
- Thanks to everyone on the Pyanodon Discord who sent reports and ideas. Most of this update comes from them.
Major Features:
- Automatic fuel. The planner picks each row's fuel, burns what the page already has left over, and never makes you build extra fuel production for it.
- Menus for rows, machines and items, with a button for each thing the keys do. Every key still works.
- Electricity and heat can be desired products, and heat has a temperature.
- Better Pyanodon support: real wind turbine power, one dig site recipe per creature and food, and smart farms that use up their seed.
- Alt+click opens anything in Factoriopedia.
Version: 1.0.10
Date: 2026-11-01
Changes:
- Automatic fuel works around what the page already makes. It burns fuel the page has left over first, then the cheapest fuel, and it no longer picks a fuel just because a recipe for it is on the page. A fuel row with nothing asking for it stays at 0 instead of being pulled in.
- Link a fuel in a table that makes it, and Automatic rows in that table burn it. The fuel production grows to match.
- Item menus shorten their recipe lists on small screens so they fit, instead of scrolling.
- Spent fuel only shows what it is left over from when no recipe makes it, as a row of fuel icons. Ash and similar items no longer list every machine that can burn coal.
- Recipe tooltips show electricity and heat as power, for example 60 MW.
Version: 1.0.9
Date: 2026-11-01
Changes:
- Long popups scroll so they stay on the screen.
- The cheat sheet lines for the row menu and Automatic fuel match how they work.
Version: 1.0.8
Date: 2026-11-01
Changes:
- Removed the total building count under the summary.
Version: 1.0.7
Date: 2026-11-01
Changes:
- The row menu has an Enabled checkbox at the bottom instead of a switch button. The checkbox and the highlight colors keep the menu open.
- Removed the module and beacon button from the row menu, since the Modules column does that.
- Automatic fuel never picks a fuel that nothing in the game can make.
Version: 1.0.6
Date: 2026-11-01
Features:
- Clicking a recipe icon opens a row menu: switch on or off, highlight color, start a nested table, move the row and delete it. Rows still move by clicking their name.
- A + button left of each plain row starts a nested table with that row on top.
- Item menus have buttons to set or clear a fixed amount and to link or unlink the item. The machine menu has a button to set or clear a fixed building count. Every key still works as before.
Changes:
- Automatic fuel prefers a fuel that a row on the page makes.
Version: 1.0.5
Date: 2026-10-31
Features:
- Automatic fuel. Pick Automatic at the top of a row's fuel list and the solver chooses the fuel. It burns what the table has left over first, then the cheapest fuel, and can mix fuels when a leftover only covers part.
Version: 1.0.4
Date: 2026-10-31
Changes:
- Pyanodon dig site recipes show their food as a small icon in the corner, so they are easy to tell apart.
- The item browser says how many locked recipes it leaves out, so an item that seems to have one recipe shows that more come with research.
Version: 1.0.3
Date: 2026-10-31
Features:
- Heat has a temperature. Reactors make heat at their highest temperature, and machines only take heat that is hot enough for them.
- Space Age: tooltips say when an item spoils and into what. Item menus list what it spoils into and what spoils into it.
- Pyanodon: dig sites have one recipe per creature and food, read from Pyanodon's own data, instead of a stand-in recipe that made 4000 ore per second.
- Pyanodon: smart farm recipes use up their seed.
Changes:
- All Pyanodon-specific code sits in one module that only runs when Pyanodon is loaded.
- The scroll bar for the rows is always shown.
- Each item that cannot be balanced is listed once in the warnings.
Bugfixes:
- Wind turbines in Pyanodon showed far too little power. A multi-blade fish turbine makes 1.2 MW at 60 km/h, not 20 kW.
- Opening the tech tree while a planner popup was open left the planner open behind it.
- While moving a row, the preview fell behind a fast mouse.
Version: 1.0.2
Date: 2026-10-31
Info:
- Most of 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 comes from reports on the Pyanodon Discord. Thanks for testing!
Features:
- Alt+click on anything in the planner opens it in Factoriopedia.
- Electricity and heat can be desired products. Pick the lightning signal for electricity or the fire signal for heat, and type the amount as power, for example 15 MW.
- Depleted fuel cells and other spent fuel list the rows that burn their fuel.
- Space Age: scrap recycling and other recycling recipes are offered when nothing else makes the item.
Changes:
- The fixed building count is out of the row editor. Shift+click the machine to set it.
- The window grows to fit wide column settings, up to the size of the screen, so every column fits on large screens such as 4K. Past the screen size the rows scroll sideways.
Bugfixes:
- Moving rows quickly, or past rows of different heights, put them in the wrong place. A click places the row next to the row under the mouse.
- Picking up a row made a scroll bar appear and the page jump.
- After Shift+clicking away from a popup, the next click was ignored.
- Opening another mod's window by its shortcut while a popup was open left both windows open.
- Find on page missed fluids that heat a machine, such as boric acid in a neutron absorber, and burnt fuel.
Version: 1.0.1
Date: 2026-10-31
Info:
- First release on the mod portal.
Changes:
- The empty slot for a new desired product lines up with the other products.
- The cheat sheet has eight sections in full sentences, a section for desired products and an explanation of the corner icons.
Version: 1.0.0
Date: 2026-10-31
Info:
- Released under the MIT license.
Changes:
- Desired product amounts are plain text that turns into a text box when clicked, the same as fixed amounts. Right-click an amount to remove the product.
- The shortcut bar icon matches the thumbnail.
Version: 0.3.5
Date: 2026-10-31
Changes:
- The cheat sheet uses bordered tables with alternating row shades, and shows two columns side by side on wide screens.
- New thumbnail.
Version: 0.3.4
Date: 2026-10-31
Features:
- Every key has a name in the Controls settings.
Changes:
- The help window is a two-column cheat sheet.
- The recipe index and item costs are built while the save loads, so the first click is instant.
Bugfixes:
- Joining a multiplayer game could fail because of how the planner set itself up on load.
Version: 0.3.3
Date: 2026-10-31
Features:
- Help window behind the ? button in the title bar.
Changes:
- Popups open next to the mouse, and windows size themselves to the screen.
- Fluid tooltips show their temperature.
- Clicks outside the planner do no work while it is closed.
Bugfixes:
- Recipe tooltips showed a broken image for modded machines or technologies without an icon.
Version: 0.3.2
Date: 2026-10-31
Features:
- Undo and redo go through one history for all pages. Undoing a change on another page switches to that page and scrolls to the row.
- Amounts are typed with units: 10/s, 99/m, or 10/3m for 10 per 3 minutes. A plain number uses the unit chosen at the top.
- Item browser with a search box and a grid of every item and fluid. Clicking one shows what makes and uses it.
Changes:
- Linking an item links only that item.
- Very small rates switch to per minute, per hour or per 10 hours, down to 0.01 per 10 hours, so numbers never get cut off.
- Opening and closing tables and renaming them can be undone.
- Building counts have no x, and fixed amounts keep the normal font.
- Blue and purple only show on items you linked yourself.
Version: 0.3.1
Date: 2026-10-30
Features:
- Layout reworked to look and work like YAFC.
- Find on page shows only the rows that make or use something with a given name, and jumps to another page when this one has no match.
- Q over an item, fluid, machine or recipe in the planner picks it up in the game.
- Fluid temperatures show on icons and in popups. Fluid fuels list each temperature they come at.
- Ctrl+click opens or closes a table. Shift+right-click or Ctrl+right-click switches a row on or off, and rows in a switched-off table are greyed out.
- Pyanodon TURD upgrades apply to the machines they affect.
- Recipe search when adding a row, including mining, with recipes you used before at the top.
- Rows can be carried to other pages, and page tabs can be moved.
- Fuel items list the recipes whose machines can burn them.
Changes:
- Tooltips list what a recipe is made in and which science pack unlocks it. A red X marks recipes that no research unlocks.
- Every tooltip shows the fuel value of things that burn.
- Overproduction is allowed and shows purple, and rows that can use a byproduct grow to use it.
- Closed tables show their power and fuel.
- The planner keeps its scroll position when you close and reopen it.
- The recipe index is built when the game starts.
Version: 0.3.0
Date: 2026-10-28
Info:
- First version: a YAFC-style planner that runs inside the game, so I can plan Pyanodon builds on the Steam Deck without a second app.
Features:
- A linear programming solver that runs in the game. Loops, byproducts and recipes with several outputs balance on their own.
- Pages with nested tables, links, desired products, fixed amounts and fixed building counts.
- Machines, modules, beacons, fuels, fluid temperatures, mining, offshore pumps, boilers, generators and reactors, all read from the game's data, so any mod set works.
- Science pack badges show which research a recipe or machine still needs.
