Adds a suite of personal defense equipment for your armor grid. Weapons automatically engage most vulnerable nearby enemies, reloads from ammunition your inventory, and sleep when combat is over to minimize server load.

Krastorio 2 already includes mk2 & mk3 Personal Defense Lasers. Could you update your item to blacklist itself if K2 or K2SO are detected?

There just ends up being unneeded duplicates, for something that already exists, cluttering things up, and doesn't have as many options. If you notice it doesn't connect with Modular Trains.

I think it's possible to detect another mod then replace an item with another item from the other mod, or just hide it.

I downloaded yours because the roadmap sounds cool, even though I've already got a couple others installed for personal rockets and Gatling guns.

I think K2's lasers serve a different purpose than what I'm trying to build. From what I see of K2 it's a bigger better laser and a sub-machine gun (reduced range but faster rate of fire). And they have multiple stages to help facilitate that effectively. What I'm trying to build is a smart-targeting system. I grew tired of my laser constantly targeting armored biters which were pretty much immune to my lasers (I think may have been a map setting). So the idea of lasers/weapons targeting the most effective target was planted. That's the value offering I'm trying to build for multiple weapon systems. I do agree there is some overlap in 'better laser' design space, but I think they serve different purposes.

If there are ideas to help differentiate them enough so that value offering is clear I'd love inspiration. Right now all I've got is a tooltip on the laser itself. :)
