ok, i can't switch back to my original character. when i press U for the UI, only the clone shows up, not the original character.
edit: never mind that too, i reloaded my save file and the original guy showed up. leaving this here in case anyone has this issue
I'm having the same issue, playing with SE 0.7. It would occasionally 'lose' one of the multiple characters and reloading the save doesn't fix it.
EDIT: Seems you can hover over another character, even if its not in the menu, and press 'U' to possess it, so a workaround exists
I think I fixed the issue. Jetpack is creating and destroying characters when using the jetpack. They should now appear again.
