I am currently having an issue where if you place the locomotive down, then pick it back up, it converts to a normal one once it's back in your inventory.
While using solid fuel, with just me in it and no cars, it's also topping out at about 331 km/h while it says the max is (648 + 32) km/h. Under the same conditions, a normal locomotive will actually hit it's rated max speed.
