The vanilla Factorio 2.0 substation has wire reach 18, and supply area 18x18. This differs from mod's default values 16.
Big pole is right at 32 reach and 4x4 area.

It would seem like other values aren't vanilla defaults either, like big pole area. You don't have to give them max limits like 4 either like it currently does. This mod doesn't seem to be made for game balance anyway but player options.

Ok the big pole actually has cap 3, we can't set it even to 4 area that is the default.

Hi Zaflis,

indeed that is a bug, thank you for spotting it and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
I uploaded version 0.1.2 which fixes the issue.

Thank you.

Hi Zafflis,

indeed, the defaults are different, as mentioned in the "Information" section, because my logical reasoning was based on the following: [1] make the reach of the poles match the Factorio chunks (start from a relative tile in a chunk - end on the same relative tile in another chunk), [2] make the supply semi-area match the main buildings widths / heights (2 tiles for small wood poles and 3 tiles for small iron poles, so when placed adjacent it is easy to cover two consecutive buildings), [3] make medium and big poles only transport electric energy, not supply it to buildings - easier to design power-controlled areas trough such poles (that is also kind of similar with how real electric networks are planned, high/medium/low voltage networks), [4] make substations have the same tile values for reach and supply area and have them fit Factorio chunks (this is why default reach is now 16 instead of 18, please take a look at the screenshots).

I hope the above information would explain my reasoning.

Thank you.

Yes, that is correct.

Indeed, but I like (and I'm going with) the ideea that high/medium (voltage) poles should be mainly used for transporting energy, not for supplying it.

This mod doesn't seem to be made for game balance anyway but player options.

Please check my other reply (see above) about the logical reasoning behind the default values.

Indeed, the mod is primarily targeting player options (which should be able to configure the vanilla values if they desire so), but also, in my opinion, its default values provide a more balanced (between reach and supply area) approach to electric network planning compared to vanilla.
