PLEASE, I'M ALMOST BEGGING YOU TO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS MOD. It is an "it just works" kinda mod I made to play with friends. I developed/tested it for about a month and I fixed a lot of bugs and optimization issues, but I CANNOT guarantee that it wont break something. So, if you want to install it, do NOT risk your already made world, and just use it as beta-phase mod and expect there to be bugs.
This mod ports/mimics Space Age asteroids for Space Exploration. Since a lot of stuff seems to work on engine level in the DLC, I couldn't port everything perfectly. Also, it uses Saplib, so it requires you to own the dlc, since it pulls directly from it, I don't think I want to make it standalone since I don't think it is correct to make this port without the person already owning the content. Of course the "Space Age" mod needs to be disable for it to work.
The mod was tested with K2SE, but it should work with just SE, take that into account. Also the images shown are taken with K2SE.
Mod Content
Asteroids
Three asteroid types are included: Metallic, Carbonic, and Oxide.
Promethium was deemed unnecessary and is not present.
- Asteroids spawn on Orbits, Belts, Fields, and Spaceships.
- Material distribution is calculated based on the parent surface — for example, asteroids in Nauvis Orbit use Nauvis's resource distribution.
- Size distribution is based on zone tier:
- "Tier 0": Nauvis Orbit. Less spawn quota and size. Tutorial-like.
- Tier 1: Orbits
- Tier 2: Belts
- Tier 3: Fields
- Spaceships are special: material and size distribution are based on the destination, while spawn quota scales with speed.
- Asteroid damage is impact-only (not very destructive) in static zones or on stopped spaceships. On moving spaceships, asteroids explode on impact, without breaking the console.
- A GUI is available showing info about asteroids on the current surface.
- Static zones have a grace period, where asteroids do not deal damage to structures before the player arrives to the surface and 5 minutes after arrival (configurable).
- SE asteroids are now selectable on turrets.
Harvesting and Processing
Asteroid Collectors
Since Asteroid Chunks couldn't be imported directly, they were recreated using normal asteroids,
which required reworking the collectors (you can see one working in the image above).
The differences from vanilla are:
- Animation
- Collection zone
- Placement tiles
- Possibly slightly laggier
Otherwise, they work and scale identically to vanilla as far as is know.
Asteroid Crusher
Functions the same as in Space Age, with only minor recipe differences.
Recipes
- Oxide Asteroid Processing yields SE ice (and quartz if Krastorio 2 is present).
Calcite does not exist in this mod. - All asteroid crushing yields a small amount of stone, compensating for the
absence of calcite and its stone production (Can be disabled). - Carbon recipe has been tweaked for balance.
