b (SOLVED) Crash when deleting certain train; also, reduce size of GUI button?

Hi there

Thanks very much for making this mod, it's a nice idea. As Optera mentioned, it would be very useful if the usability could be a bit improved - being able to scroll and search for example. It's possible to rename locomotives with certain mods, so a way to search for a given locomotive name (if that's possible) would provide a way to search for a specific train when one doesn't know its ID. Eg if I rename at least one loco of every train to something unique, I could then search for any train by the known name of one of its locos.

What would be even more awesome would be making each Train ID entry in the list a link, that when clicked opens the train UI for that train. Is that possible? I'm thinking like the Station UI, which lists the trains that use that station and allows clicking on any of them to bring up the UI for that train.

Secondly, could you (optionally) reduce the size of the Train Distances button. It's extremely long, taking up a lot more space than any of my other modded GUI buttons. An option to have it be called TD or HFHIB would be appreciated.

Finally, I've got a repeatable crash. When I delete this train: https://i.imgur.com/XUafrlN.png from right to left (and not when left-to-right), HFHIB will crash when the last artillery wagon is deleted, with the following error: https://i.imgur.com/zzkl4B8.png

Note that this happens even if I first add a new wagon into the gap between wagon and loco, to make it a complete train again. So I don't know if it's because the train is incomplete, or maybe some other reason. I even tried re-adding the missing wagon then driving the train a bit. But the crash happens every time I delete from right-to-left.

I have a save at this point, available on request.

Thanks very much

Hi,

Afraid to say I've not had a chance to make any updates in awhile, but am planning to do improve the GUI a bit (eg scrollable, filterable) I have thought about opening the train/station GUI when clicking a train ID, but I'm not sure if this is possible at the moment sadly - if there is I haven't seen a way.

Thanks very much for your bug report though - I know exactly what's causing this. Oversight on my part, I forgot artillery wagons were a thing :) Should be a straightforward fix when I get around to it.

I'll try and make some time given there's been a few requests now
Thanks a lot

Hi Jack

Thanks for the reply. Good to know the bug is easy to fix. Interestingly I've deleted several artillery wagons and trains, but that was the only one that crashed, and only when I deleted the artillery wagon last. So it hasn't been a big problem

Understand re train GUI, just a nice to have.

Thanks again for all your work on the mod.

Hi There,

Finally got around to fixing this. Thanks for the bug report, this is fixed in the update for 0.17.

I've made the GUI scrollable, and added a filter for the train-stop names in each train's schedule. This works similarly to the filter on the vanilla train GUI, where the list filters based on the user input.

This should make it a bit more useful than a long list of IDs without context!

Hi,

This has been a long time coming, but clicking a train in the list now opens the vanilla train GUI :)

Thanks
Jack
