Hi Falafelrollo, Alien Biomes is definitely supported, I've even designed some of the color options with it in mind to make sure they look nice for every biome :)
Check that your "color mode" mod setting is set to something other than "none", as the mod won't draw any glowing auras if it is set to "none".
Also, currently the glowing auras are only visible within a certain distance around the player, so if you're looking on map view it's likely that you won't see any.
The mod should work for any new or existing map, no need to start a new game.
