The options to get feedback on Factorio mods besides the total number of downloads seem kind of limited...
And since this one don't get much attention on that front I wanted to say that I very much enjoyed the rebalance.
It feels very natural and I might even say it should be vanilla with how the stock behavior looks almost hacky in comparison.
Seriously, vanilla fire works more like a pool of acid then anything burning. Just dissolving everything that accidentally steps into it or get sprayed.
Especially with high damage research it gets absolutely ridiculous. The research itself kind of makes not much sense really. Does it make the fire burn at the temperature of the sun? While burning exactly the same liquid? Yeah, anyway...
Flamethrowers are known to be notoriously overpowered, sure, but they aren't even very satisfying at that with the constant misses and slow projectiles.
What's the fun in that if it takes longer for bullets to kill anything than fire? I wanna see the enemies burn alive!
This mod accomplishes exactly that: makes biters burn as I shoot them to death. Much more chaos.
I don't know if any alternative reworks were made before, they are surprisingly hard to find. It's strange if it hadn't been done before. Maybe some big combat overhauls did it, I'm not sure. But this one is simple and effective (I think it's not heavy on performance too) Stock config seems sufficient in my opinion but more testing might be needed. Either way, thanks for creating this!
