Fewer Quality Tiers


This mod is for players who want to play with quality, but do not want to manage 5 different quality tiers. It reduces the amount of quality tiers. By default it only has `normal`, `rare` and `legendary`, but it's fully configurable with which qualities to keep. It automatically adjusts the probabilities to account for the missing step (or at least attempts to) and adjusts technologies too.

The current balance kill off by a very big factor the droprate, removing the up scaling make loose tons of chance to upgrade quality.

    previous_quality.next_probability = (previous_quality.next_probability or 1) / 3

Do you still feel te drop rates are too high? Or could it be that it was fixed by your other bug report? If it still feels wrong could you provide some numbers (with large enough datasets)? Because to me the math makes sense as it is currently.

Well apparently I forget to click on submit when I answered yesterday XD No the bug chance nothing since I was using the fix on my local version already

On the contrary the drop rate is too low, for the same setup I loose a lot of legendary material, that to be expected since you loose the 10% extra chance to skip a tier each time you gain a quality tier. Also, I'm not a very good in proba but I think it's harder to 4 step with 10% chance to get an upgrade than 4 step at 0.001% chance. Since recycle "save your progression" of getting a tier up.

I don't think any math formula will be able to simulation the current balance for quality, at least for me using only normal and legendary, / 3 feel ok. But I doubt it will be okay for 3 quality tier or more.

I suggest to balance this mod to have a try map / benchmark where we could extract number.

Okay, I've realized that I wasn't accounting for the items that would have been upgraded to the removed quality. This increases the probability by about 25% per tier. Or, if you only have legendary active, it goes from 0.01% to 0.15% to get a legendary from normal.
