A searchable, offline reference shelf for the Factorio modding community — directly inside your factory.
Open the handbook
Install and enable the mod, load a map, and click facmodkit at the top of the screen or enter /facmodkit. Search titles and full article text, choose a category, and select a result. Article text can be selected and copied. Close with Escape or Close. The first 150 matches are shown; narrow your search to find more specific results.
Included
- 1,889 articles: original guides, eight agent skills, runtime classes, events, concepts, prototypes and prototype types.
- Topics covering package structure, prototype stages, runtime, settings, localisation, migrations, debugging and Space Age development.
- Full original JSON API entries, including parameter formats, optionality and parent names. Look up parents separately for inherited members.
- English and German interface. Articles retain their original English or German language.
- Offline reference material in resources/ inside the mod ZIP: guides, API JSON and extracted references, provenance, source catalogs, licenses, and agent skill instructions/references. Python tools and skill helper scripts are available separately from GitHub because the Mod Portal prohibits .py files in mod archives.
Game versions and documentation versions
0.1.0: Factorio 2.0.77+ on the 2.0 line.
0.1.1: Factorio 2.1.22+ on the 2.1 line.
No expansion or other community mod is required. This handbook adds no recipes, machines or world entities.
The bundled documentation snapshot is 2.1.21. This does not mean those API contracts apply to 2.0.77 or every newer version. Verify contracts against your project’s exact target game version. This mod is a reference tool, not a mod validator.
Use with an AI coding agent
Extract the ZIP for offline guides, skill instructions and API data. For the complete agent skills with helper scripts and the Python tools, download the linked GitHub repository and read its AGENTS.md and README.md. Python tools require Python 3.9+ outside Factorio, with SQLite FTS5 for search. Helper scripts referenced in the skill guides are not bundled in this Portal ZIP. Installing this mod does not automatically connect an AI agent.

Verification and scope
Tested with Factorio 2.0.77 and 2.1.22 using actual engine GUI objects. Opening, search, article selection and Escape close were also checked in the 2.0 graphical client; save/reload with the release package was checked. Repository checks: 13 tests passed. Real multiplayer join/desync behavior and broad community-mod compatibility remain unverified.
License and sources
Original code, guides and skills: MIT. Bundled Wube API documentation retains its MIT, modified license. Wiki-derived catalog material retains its original terms; blog entries are bibliographic catalogs. See resources/THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and the versioned API license for details. The MIT selection applies to original project material, not a relicensing of third-party sources. No cached full wiki/blog articles, game assets, credentials or saves are distributed.
