I was set to do a bunch of bug fixing and documentation improvements myself, and maybe publish another fork, until I saw the LICENSE of the original fCPU. It would seem to forbid me from contributing. Is anybody enforcing its unique "Limited Distribution Only License"?

Until @konstg and/or @mataxetos speaks up on the licensing issue, i can't justify putting any time into this mod. That's a shame because it deserves to be saved from obsolescence. It's clearly the best in its class at the moment, even though my first 2 inspections revealed batches of bugs and documentation holes right away.
