Hello exfret
I think this mod is a great idea. It's time to have compassion for biters ;-)
I would like to work on a French translation of this mod.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with some French grammatical rules that differ from English which make the pronoun system used here not work.
In French, the form of adjectives differs according to the gender of the subject. Possessive pronouns don't accord with the subject, but with the noun of what is possessed.
And unfortunately, the system for plurals has no equivalent for genders.

I could make a startup setting that makes everything gender neutral, or if you have an idea for making the code more language independent, you can submit a PR to the repo. I would love to have your contribution, so if there's an easy way I can help it to work, then let me know!

It would be a pity to remove the gender of biters, it's important to give them a "personality".
I don't think it's possible to find a system that's compatible with all languages.
The easiest way would be to triple each sentence: one version for a male biter, another for a female biter and a third one for a "neutral" biter.
Eg with sentence 8:
8m=He will be remembered for his long career in nest creep management.
8f=She will be remembered for her long career in nest creep management.
8n=They will be remembered for their long career in nest creep management.

I could probably do that.

It's been a while since you talked, but it was brought up to me recently so I went ahead and made a PR to implement that
https://github.com/exfret/exfret_biter_memoirs/pull/8

I want to be clear, if you leave out any gendered key, it should fallback to the ungendered one. This way you can leave out duplicates.
We have them listed in the English version because I plan to get exfret to use Crowdin and I don't think it understands the idea of optional keys (especially since its source of truth is the English locale files).

It's a little late, but since I've taken over as maintainer and wanted to add a remote interface I've gone ahead and published a new version that should be 'easy' for you to translate with any gender.

Because I wanted to let a remote interface add or entirely set the memoirs, the key editing wasn't going to sit well with me. So I took the path of abusing the plural switch. This also makes it entirely possible to extend the list of genders if more are needed for any language.

I don't think I'll be adding object genders, since different languages have different genders for the same object. That'll require the number of languages with object gender squared of pronoun_id's, and that's pretty unusable especially for adding an object name when you don't know which one to pick.
