Dana: crafting tree/graph explorer

by Credne

Dana provides ways to explore and display the recipe graph of Factorio (vanilla or modded). This mod is still in alpha stages: it is recommended to use it on a dedicated (sandbox) save, or at minimum to backup your save. While the mod should work in multiplayer, be careful about griefing (rendering huge graphs can freeze the game for several minutes).

Overview

Dana is an assistant mod to help making sense of Vanilla (or modded) crafting graphs.

While the goal is similar What is it used for? / FNEI / RecipeBook, the approach is different (but complementary):

  • Dana is about depth & production chains: finding all the steps to get an item from raw resources, or finding all the end products you can get from a bunch of ores.
  • Dana displays its results in a custom-made graph renderer able to run inside Factorio.

Current state & future

Right now I am only doing maintenance on this Mod, and don't plan to restart active development anytime soon. If someone is interested in pursuing my work, feel free to fork and ask any question.

This Mod is quite stable, but still barebone. It can generate interesting graphs for Vanilla or lightly modded games. For bigger overhauls, the graphs tends to be unreadable due to lack of advanced filters, and the graph layout algorithms still being weak on certain aspects.
