Car/Tank/Spidertron Locator Button (Find / Locate My Lost Car / Car Finder)

by jeff.s

Where DID I leave my car/tank/spidertron/other modded vehicle? This mod adds a tool-belt icon to help you track it down.

i Idea: Make an option for hiding specific (modded) vehicles [[Implemented in 1.4.0]]

Hi. First off, this is an awesome mod! Great job.

I'm using it in a playthrough with space exploration. I found that after i build some cargo rocket silo, they actually are represented as vehicles. It would be awesome if you were able to set a whitelist/blacklist for what vehicle names (or ids) that the mod should "find". I'll let you think of a clever solution to this, but the following illustrates my "issues" (note the "There are many vehicles. This list is incomplete"):

Thanks! I had kind of been putting off dealing with modded entities until I or somebody else had to deal with them, so I appreciate the nudge to make it even better.

The good news is I have now released a new version (1.4.0) which has options to either limit the results to a specific list of vehicles, or to hide certain vehicles from the list. This also now prints the localized vehicle names (e.g. "C.A.B.") instead of the really ugly internal entity names, which will also help make it better for modded vehicles.

Give it a try and let me know if it works well for you, or if you run into other scenarios where it could be improved!

Thanks for the fast reply. I just updated the mod, and blacklisted the se-rocket-launch-pad-_-seat entity. It works like a charm! Thanks a lot.

The only "quirk" left is that you can't hover the space exploration seat "vehicles" (se-rocket-launch-pad-_-seat), since they are covered by the rocket platform, making it impossible to get the entity name without the screenshot above or looking into the space exploration source code. But I guess you can't do much about this, besides maybe adding a setting to show the internal names in the output as well

Good point. Thankfully, it was not to hard to add a setting that also shows the entity names (default: off), to make it easier to hide them. Out now in 1.4.1, cheers

Hi, having a few minor difficulties (aka wishlist ;P ) with this most helpful mod.

stock:
-renamed spidertrons don't ping with their given name, just 'spidertron' (or with spidertronweaponswitcher, things like 'rocket launcher spidertron').

with space exploration:
-spaceships can't be added as vehicles (by way of adding se-spaceship-console to the 'only show' setting) . Could this maybe be added as a 'also include entities' instead of just 'only show:' and 'exclude:' ?

with spidertron-extended
-in that the extended spidertrons aren't listed by default, but do work if added in 'only show'. I don't suppose a wildcard could be added to the 'only show:', so I could just do spidertron*?

and for others stumbling by and new to this, here are some of the entity names (because I didn't clue in that the show entity names option was for finding this out by hitting the locator and reading): car, tank, spidertron, spidertronmk2, spidertron-builder, immolator, spidertronmk3, se-spaceship-console, se-rocket-launch-pad--seat, se-space-capsule--vehicle
