Bismuth

by trikop

Intended to be played with all BZ mods. And also in the SEK2BZ combo for a very so called fun experience. Made to incorporate itself into a lot of recipes Almost all of the code is a modified version of the code in Brevven's mods (the BZ mods) It's quite useful as a base for making a mod I'd say :D Most of the graphics is placeholderish, will have to do something about that xD

So I've been playing SEK2BZ(and bismuth!). I feel that there are too few uses for bismuth plates compared to how many you get. I have over three stacks while building my first furnace setup.

good point, will have to reduce the amount of them you get (probably quite a bit) xD

Reduced output from other ores to about a 10th of what it was previously, so should be a lot better now I think

Add Bismuth to many military productions - Tanks (for armor), shells, maybe advanced turrents (or even standard). But the main problem is - there is no sink for Bi so we need to think about it. Maybe add a new recipee for solder including it (it is a real world use - rose alloy with 2 BI 1 Sn and 1 Pb and that aloy is also used as a thermal transfer media which can be used in metal cooled nuclear reactors or metal casting), catalyst for rubber and synthetic acryl fiber production - so some oil recipee with bismuth, and maybe some other intermediate in a production of LWS. it can be used in production of glass (as a pigment but can be made like a catalytic sink increasing a bit output of glass). Bismuth-Manganese alloy is used as a magnet in production of electric motors, ultrasonic generators and holographic memory devices (that is a real world data O_O). Also it can substitute Lead almost anywhere it is used. Bismuth Telluride is a very good semiconductor. And it is used in production of some kind of lubricant greases....

Also can be used in cold fusion reactions to produce transuranic elements... but not sure what to do with it.

For adding it to more military stuff, I would essentially just have to create weaker versions of them (at least with mods like bzlead enabled) I do need another usage for it perhaps. Can replace lead with bismuth for weaker ammo xD

Already made roses metal used in underground pipes, although I didn't make roses metal it's own item yet (can do it if I have more recipes to add it to) since it isn't used in more than one thing. Factorio's nuclear reactors doesn't require cooling, so not sure what I can do there. SE has metal casting, so thats a good idea actually. Rubber is possible, although I'm not sure if there is a mod that has it? https://mods.factorio.com/mod/rubber-n-resin does, but seems not to be compatible with K2.
As far as I know synthetic acrylic fiber is used in clothing?
Not sure quite how I'd change oil recipes to include bismuth, but that would be interesting (only thing I found from quick google search was plugging old oil wells xD)
What does LWS mean btw?

Glass I've seen is a thing, could be a good idea to do something with

Manganese isn't a mod yet, but I may perhaps make that mod myself If I get some time.

Bismuth Telluride sounds quite interesting
Fusion reactions may perhaps be out of the scope of this mod xD

Conclusion:

  • More military uses, just with less damage
  • More uses for roses metal?
  • Usage in SE metal casting
  • Uses in oil processing?
  • Glass

LWS - Low Weight Structure and that should've been LDS - low density structure :) Sorry for that one.
Another recipe for solder using bismuth seems like a good sink for it.
For oil recipees i see a lot of recipees like crude oil to products usin different additives (i use 248r+k2+bzsuit so i may see more than you really make) like carbon, steam (that's vanilla) or sulfur to get even more sulfur out. Adding bismuth may give us a higher yield in lubricant and .... and here i don't know:) Oil is already compicated with my modpack.... but more options is always good.

Oil do be complicated
Not sure how to incorporate bismuth into low density structures tho

I just thought about using acrylic fiber in LDS so it was using Bismuth to get fiber - and then use it in LDS. Anyway just trying to find a sink for it - ammo is not enough.

true, bismuth doesn't get used much at the moment before red circuits
