Assembly machines needs a bot for each craft. The bots can't be crafted themselves, but they do occasionally replicate. However, they can't be destroyed, or even stored - at least not safely. Maybe you'll find some ways to keep them busy.
I'm using lots of mods and didn't check this mod separately, but here is the error message that i got after enabling the new version 0.2.2 for the first time:

Mods to be disabled: assemblybots ((disable/restart/exit))
is this error really caused by interaction with other mods?
