Advanced Furnace Plus (Fork)
A futuristic end-game furnace for Factorio 2.0 — compact, fast, and fully configurable.
Features
Compact 5×5 footprint — takes much less space than the original 7×7 design while handling every smelting recipe in the game, including fluid-based recipes and stone-to-brick.
High performance — base crafting speed of 5 with up to 8 configurable module slots and a base productivity bonus adjustable from 0% to 200%.
Quality support — higher quality levels increase crafting speed, health, and energy consumption proportionally via the engine's native quality scaling. A Legendary furnace runs at ×2.5 speed and uses ×2.5 energy, keeping the same energy efficiency per item while producing less pollution per item.
East-West fluid passthrough (optional setting) — lets one fluid flow straight through the furnace from west to east, so you can chain multiple furnaces on a single pipe without extra plumbing. North and south connections stay independent for other recipe fluids.
Aquilo support — the furnace has a heating energy cost (200 kW) and a hand-painted frozen overlay. It freezes correctly without a heat source and thaws when connected to heat pipes, just like any vanilla building on Aquilo.
Space Exploration compatibility (optional setting) — when enabled and the Space Exploration mod is installed, the furnace can be built on orbital and space surfaces. Unlike most SE buildings, the Advanced Furnace keeps its productivity in space — we patch the SE-created -spaced clone to restore productivity modules and the base productivity bonus.
Full mod compatibility — automatically inherits every smelting category from vanilla furnaces during the final data phase, so mods like Space Age, Space Exploration, and Krastorio 2 work out of the box. If another mod adds extra fluids to the recipe (e.g. Crushing Industry), they are automatically removed to keep the recipe craftable in standard assemblers.
Startup Settings
| Setting | Range | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Module slots | 0 – 8 | 5 | Number of module slots |
| Base productivity | 0 – 200% | 50% | Flat productivity bonus applied before modules |
| Energy drain (idle) | 0 – 5000 kW | 30 kW | Constant power draw while idle (not crafting) |
| Energy usage (full load) | 100 – 10000 kW | 900 kW | Power draw while actively crafting (scales with quality) |
| Pollution | 0 – 100 | 8 | Emissions per minute (constant across quality levels) |
| E-W fluid passthrough | on / off | off | Share one fluid across the west-east axis |
| Allow placement in space (SE) | on / off | off | Allow building on SE orbital/space surfaces |
Energy model: The furnace consumes the drain value constantly (even when idle) plus the usage value when crafting. At full load with default settings: 30 + 900 = 930 kW total. For reference, the vanilla Electric Furnace has 6 kW drain and 180 kW usage.
Quality scaling: Higher quality increases crafting speed, health, and energy usage proportionally (up to ×2.5 at Legendary). Drain and pollution stay constant — a Legendary furnace produces 2.5× more items with the same idle power and pollution per minute, so per-item costs are lower.
Recipe
Crafted in an assembling machine with fluid support (advanced crafting category):
- 100 × Steel plate
- 30 × Concrete
- 20 × Pipe
- 20 × Processing unit
- 10 × Electric engine unit
- 20 × Lubricant (fluid)
Unlocked via the Advanced Furnace Plus technology (requires Automation 3, Concrete, Processing unit research; costs 1 000 of each science pack including Space).
