Companion to AAI Programmable Vehicles. Squad formations that stay behind you, real path following with collision avoidance, tanks that crush trees and ram bugs but never buildings or people, and flamethrowers that aim for the densest enemy cluster.

Changelog

Version: 0.1.3
Date: 2026-11-05
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed a hitch of 40 to 70 ms every couple of seconds on large maps, felt by every player.
Flamethrower vehicles were found by searching a whole surface every 120 ticks; they are now
picked up when built or taken over, with one full search only when the mod set changes.
    - Squad vehicles no longer run over a player on foot who cuts across the convoy. A player's
walking direction and speed are projected ahead, and a vehicle on course to meet them stops
at once: walking into a stopped vehicle is harmless, being hit by a moving one is not.
    - Following a player who is driving: the formation now hangs off the back of the vehicle even
while it reverses, the lane cleared ahead of it is wider and reaches further at speed, and
squad vehicles get out of its way sideways instead of stopping in its path.
    - Vehicles no longer drive into trains. Near track they watch for moving trains and wait short
of the line until it is clear, and a vehicle already on the track keeps going rather than
stopping on it. Parked trains are planned around, ends included.
    - Squad slots that land on or next to a railway are moved off it, so nothing parks on a track.
    - Vehicles in a squad no longer bump into each other: speed is capped to stop short of other
vehicles as well as buildings, and slots are handed out so no two routes cross.
    - When two vehicles converge, the one behind now gives way to the one ahead. Before, the
lower unit number always did, so a fast vehicle closing from behind could sideswipe a
slower one, most often with exoskeletons in their equipment grids.
    - Far less backing up when following a fast player: no reversing into slots that swing round
as the player turns, and waiting behind a squadmate, giving way or waiting for a train no
      longer counts as stuck.
Version: 0.1.2
Date: 2026-11-05
  Features:
    - RTS mode button on the shortcut bar. While it is on, right-click with the unit remote moves
the selected vehicles there as a squad, and right-clicking an enemy makes them attack it:
guns, flamethrowers and ramming all go for that target until it dies. Turning it on hands
you the unit remote. A key can be bound to it under Controls.
    - Selected vehicles show a line to where they are actually going: green to their squad slot,
      red to an attack target.
  Bugfixes:
    - The travel marker of a vehicle under squad control no longer stays stuck at the spot where
      the squad took it over.
Version: 0.1.1
Date: 2026-11-05
  Bugfixes:
    - Vehicles no longer crash into your own buildings while charging, approaching with a
flamethrower, dodging or backing out. Every driving mode now caps speed so the vehicle can
always stop short of anything friendly or neutral in its way.
    - A ram charge rechecks its path every decision instead of every third, at full speed that
      was ten tiles between looks.
    - Cannon and rocket vehicles no longer shoot through your own walls and buildings. They pick
a target with a clear line of fire, or hold fire when there is none.
  Changes:
    - Heavy vehicles target spawners first, then worms, then loose biters.
    - Ram targets are chosen to line up several spawners in one run, and the next one is picked
the moment the last dies so the charge keeps its speed.
    - A chosen spawner or worm stays the target until it dies or leaves range. One that stays
unreachable is passed over for a while instead of being retried forever.
    - Flamethrowers lock on to one spawner or worm and keep burning it until it dies or leaves
range, instead of sweeping the stream between targets.
    - Guns on squad vehicles focus one target until it dies or leaves range, spawners first,
and shoot whatever the vehicle is ramming.
Version: 0.1.0
Date: 2026-11-04
  Major Features:
    - Squad formations that stay behind the player, with lane clearing when you walk at them.
    - Path following with obstacle and traffic avoidance for vehicles under remote orders.
    - Heavy vehicles crush trees, ram bugs and spawners, and refuse to ram anything friendly.
    - Flamethrowers aim for the densest reachable enemy cluster and hold fire on it.
    - Squad hotkeys report what they selected, and a double tap jumps to the squad.
