i Retroactive Stack & Lane Filter Setting

Edit: Meant to title as Retroactive Stack & Lane Filter Setting

From the other thread: Filtration does not work

Yeah, the main thing I wanted to achieve with my mod was having multiple variants for each use-case, rather than globally modifying the loaders as the other mods I've seen do. I think @kryojenik's mod also has variants, but only using AAI Loaders as graphic rather than actually adding AAI Loaders. If you want simple loaders with variants go with their mod, if you want the features that AAI Loaders supports (lubricated mode, etc) this mod is for you.

Visually, both the regular AAI Loaders and the combined lane-filter stack ones are identical, so its difficult to see which ones need upgrading or don't.

Could a setting/variant be included that retroactively applies both lane-filtering and stacking to the existing AAI Loaders, without adding an extra entity with these effects? @kryojenik's version is simply an additional entity with both of these effects, which is no different than using those setting variants here in this mod.

So, in my opinion, the lane-filtering (and stacking to a much lesser degree) is not a direct upgrade to the base variant, since due to engine limitations any time you would want a single filter (items appearing on both lanes), the filter would have to be set twice for each lane. It also has fewer filter slots though that restriction is really niche.

That said, there is a mod that applies the requisite settings to all loaders without creating new variants, which may be a better fit for you than my mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/loader-lane-filter-stacks.

I think I'll add a setting to adjust the tint of the loader variants as a stopgap measure to actual graphical changes as well.

Thanks, that mod did exactly what I hoped.
Honestly went for your mod first because the icon was much nicer looking. 🥳
