i Voidshed Inevitability

Somewhere around the move to blue science, I determined that trying to balance the outputs of a large voidshed farm was impossible without logic circuits and a footprint that undermines the benefit of using voidsheds over direct creation (even assuming I had a sufficient stone brick outlet). I think adding a sink for wood or stone brick (even if it is something indirect) would make this more feasible. Otherwise, I think everyone will avoid this design choice, making it a sad remnant of what it could be.

This is by design. Voidsheds consume no energy and thus avoid the main cost of voidcraft, so I deliberately made them kind of lackluster in other ways. They are useful for when you have nothing and you want to get going, but, much like the stone furnace and iron chest their graphics are kitbashed from, they will be left behind as your factory grows.

I think I understood the choice you had made, but I was pointing out interesting design opportunities for voidsheds beyond the first dozen minutes of gameplay. Obviously it is by far easier to make exactly the things you need in voidforges+ instead of dealing with the mess of a voidshed output...but that was what enticed me about them. I suppose I'm saying, don't abandon them like an iron chest. It would be interesting to be making my void flux through a voidshed farm instead of directly through simpler means.

As an aside, really just a thought based on your last comment:
I'm not sure energy is a real cost for the mod since energy can be manufactured from nothing. I think the math you're looking at (at least for void block, not the void mod in general) is either factory footprint or factory complexity. The tradeoffs in things like Seablock were often of the flavor: yes, you can get that better process, but at the cost of more complexity and/or buildings.

Again, I stress, I only make comments on mods I am enthusiastically in support of, so I hope they are taken as constructive feedback. Good luck!
