I feel sad that such basic functionality requires installing a mod. And I always feel like if I'm admitting that I can't dispatch my trains efficiently enough in vanilla, might as well install a complete overhaul dispatch system like an LTN. But LTN is so much more powerful than vanilla, it feels like total cheating.
