Could you add a config setting to enable smelting directly from Gold Ore to Plates? I do not know how much that would affect balance/continuity/this mod as a port of Planetfall's, feel free to decline if it's not workable.
P.S. Thanks for porting this + brass + nickel forward to 2.0! I've really loved the experience, feels like a very natural extension of Factorio, but I don't want to set up a massive pipe for oil just to refine Gold.
