g Early game seems even slower

The changes to early game slow the progression pretty heavily.
I receive solar instead of windmills which means half the time everything is idle
Slag slurry is advanced mechanic, and iron ore MUST be furnaced and is useless without the additional science, making the ore sorting actually detrimental if researched as a standalone research.

I introduced the slurry mulitplier in the settings with the last update. 5 Will make slurry as inexpensive as in the original SeaBlock mod. 20 is like it is in plain Angels and default in 2.0.
I kind of struggle to balance this: On the one hand I like to encourage to use the more complicated more efficient recipes. On the other it is horrible before you get these.
While solar is idle 30% of the day it actually gives you a double the energy per area. So with a small boiler setup you can produce a lot of power with much less expensive landfill. Especially since even handcrafting wood will bring you through the nights.
But I still see the problem and working on a solution. – Eventually even more starting resources and earlier access to fluid boilers.

Well in the first hours you don't have any way to store day energy. Maybe besides the solar start with one acumutalor than can run 4 machines through the night?

Well in the first hours you don't have any way to store day energy.

Of course you can. Via steam and wood (bricks)! 10 pipes can store as much energy as 3 accumulators and are much cheaper.

This was kind of the idea of changing from wind turbines to solar together with the early steam engine trigger. Giving you the nudge that you should build a steam setup ASAP. A Simple 3 steam engine 1 boiler setup coasts you 78 iron plates and 86 crushed stone. You can have that after 6 minutes. And it will bring you through the night with 2 players handcrafting wood. (Or through 85% of the day/night-cycle if you are playing alone. The last 15% inefficiency should annoy you. But it is really not much of a problem.)
I am working on the possibility to make fluid boilers available earlier. Wich will allow you to go through the night without even touching algae farming. But in the end I kind of want to push people into understanding that wood processing, algae farming and arboretum are cheap key technologies while accumulators are horribly expensive way to store energy until very late in the game. Even in vanilla on deathworld. With Angels you do not want to use them at all.
There are so many cool ways to produce electricity in this mod.

But steam is not produce by solar panels, it's an alternative energy source. If I had an electric boiler then yes, I could convert day power to steam to have for the night.
Also 78 iron plates in 6 minutes means around 12 plates per minute, -> 1 plate / 5 seconds
Using the helmod planner I would need 23 electrolyzers to produce slag, 6 crushers to break that slag, 4 crystalizers to slodify the slurry
In the first hour this is what production looks like

If I'm missing something on how to expand please tell me since I can't seem to find a way to scale

Yes! This is the thing the mod is trying to tell you. You need an alternative energy source! One that allows you to store energy. You have enough starting resources for a steam engines and wood is free.+

In the first hour this is what production looks like
I see 20 electrolizers worth of iron converted into belts and your crusher will be all the time idle because you can not insert/exert enough crushed stone/slag.
In the early game you really want to go for 90° direct insertion setups. The mod is really meant to played with bob's. If you are not playing without bob's adjustable inserters you will have to hand move things.

  • <rant> This is btw. something people in the real world do not want to understand: Solar is now by far the cheapest energy source. So it is stupid to use something else while the sun is shining. Storing that electricity (especially until winter) will make it the most expensive energy source ever discussed. So you want something that is able to be cheap when it is used only from time to time. Like gas or hydro. And if it is possible you want to shift your loads.
People who are talking about running coal 24/7 are as stupid as the ones who are saying solar is the solution to everything and we "just" have to store it.
Power and Energy are different things.

I do not have savegames of my early game .But this is a slag setup that is resource efficient:

And this are the remains of my early production I used with the starting ressouces. It has a few belts now, much more boilers and produces only stone instead of slurry but I think you get how it was in the early game.
