Seablock itself is being updated for 2.0 by the current maintainer of Seablock and a lot of the dependencies for Seablock. (KiwiHawk).

hay been interested in finding an updated version, where did you see/read about it being updated?

Yes I rely a lot on code that is now Maintaned by KiwiHawk especialy angels. But these where not written by him. He just fixed a few (or better a lot) bugs and ported it to newer versions. And I think this is impossible for SeaBlock. This is the reason why I did an rewrite even so the original code is MIT.
There where times when KiwiHawk was fixing dozens of bugs/inconsistent behaviors per week.
It is now 2½ years and there is no upgrade in sight while KiwiHawk overtook the mod "only" 5½ years ago. So the Mod is now dead for almost half the time. I'm still waiting that KiwiHawk is applying my patches to update ScienceCostTweaker Mod to 2.1 (which he promised to do) and every second questions in the Bob/Angesl666 forum is answered with: "Yes sounds good I will do it some day but at the moment im working on a, b and c.
With 24 Mods in the 100 most downloaded I doubt he will ever find the time to upgrade code that is heavily dependent on the biggest change for 2.0: Terrain generation.
Maybe I should have named it NG or something since it is really a new mod with a few different decisions. (I didn't buff blue algae and cheapened the prices for filtration plants and he never allowed boiling for slag and had no achievements...) But I think in the end it "feels" for everybody very much like a real sea block successor.

Finally someone got tired of waiting 2.0 release.

There already is an alpha version of Seablock with its dependencies that has been updated for 2.0, which reportedly has a few bugs, though I haven't spotted any in my playthrough yet. Guide for installing 2.0 version of Seablock: https://gist.github.com/neonbyte1/9224bbe9ba55a5862c4642084afd0107

I know from KiwiHawk himself that he's updating Seablock for Factorio 2.x, and estimates it to be out this year.
With the amount of time and work KiwiHawk has spent on maintaining and fixing the mods they are as much, if not more, written by him than by the original creators. The original creators have signed over responsibility to KiwiHawk. And no, the mod is not "now dead for almost half the time" XD

Oh, and for your claim that "it 'feels' for everybody very much like a real sea block successor." I know that we've gotten some people that went looking for the official update for SeaBlock to SeaBlock2 because this one was so bad in their estimation.

If it will be end of the year it will have been dead for over half the time. This is just a fact. Meanwhile now I have already 2 playtroughs with this mod.
There already is an alpha version of Seablock
Made by KompetenzAirbag who used code from elvanaud. So also no "official" KiwiHawk port. Just two other dudes who forked it.

It is very misleading to say "there is no upgrade in sight" when a 2.0 version of the original Seablock already exists... even if it is a fork. Like, you can literally play the original Seablock in 2.0 right now, with not that much assembly needed.

At the very least, include a link to the unofficial Seablock 2.0 installation guide (and clarify that it is an unofficial version) in your mod's description or FAQ so people know that there is a port of the original version that exists. There are a number of people who saw your mod expecting a port of Seablock and were displeased to find out that this is not the case.

I add an similar disclaimer as neonbyte1 did exactly at the same time when Khaylain complained here. So pretty sure this is coordinated by a few guy who do not want to update their server and now want to start a shitstorm here. Including opening complains about every single bug that is documented even if you need to use specific seeds to reproduce them.

I apologize for the redundant bug reports; I forgot to check your source page to see that they were already known. I just started a new map with your mod, since the first one I started had different mods and mod settings, and I got spawned on a worm island, then escaped, accidentally destroyed my spaceship, restarted, then noticed that the starting items I saw before were gone. Probably got unlucky with the seeds. I didn't make those bug reports out of malice, seriously. There is no conspiracy here.

Edit: I made a pull request to fix the problems with the spaceship wreckage. I wish you good luck with your mod, now that it no longer has a misleading name.
Edit 2: I also fixed the lakes and island elevations appearing in the map gen GUI. You're welcome.

Huh? What are you smoking? Making wild accusations that have no basis in reality isn't a good look. Conspiracy theories like it's a coordinated effort XD
Not sure what "do not want to update their server" is supposed to mean.
