I doubled the cost of the red and blue radar. The blue radar is now much less energy efficient per scan than the basic radar, whereas previously it was only a bit less efficient. This means that now you want to scan with basic radar first. As the blue radar has a higher scan rate than basic radar, you could stage several of them together--assuming you can afford the high power cost--and explore a huge area quite quickly. You'll get a good scan rate out of a given amount of space used for radars.
Unmodded, the red radar can be fully powered in the daytime with 15 solar panels. Its maximum range is much lower than the base radar but its energy cost per scan is still quite a bit lower even after the energy cost increase. It also still scans just as fast as before. You can power it partially and just wait longer for a full scan, it still won't take long. With KS power, you can power it fully with 2 burner generators which makes setting up a power station very easy. With Realistic Power, it costs 84 solar panels to power it fully.
