So I played through a rampant game and I used this mod as well. I found that this mod removed a significant part of the challenge. The large machines reduce some of the cost of high production factories. It's a minor thing but it does have an effect.

Air filtering machines on the other hand very much trivialize the challenge. Removing pollution means less biters spawn, which means less resources spent dealing with them, which in turn means even less biters spawn.
