⚡ Powered Concrete
Powered Concrete lets your factory floor carry electric coverage through powered concrete, powered refined concrete, and powered hazard concrete — without filling clean builds with visible power poles everywhere.
Build cleaner. Expand faster. Let the floor carry the grid.
⚙️ What It Does
Powered Concrete turns selected floor tiles into a hidden electric network.
Instead of placing power poles across every clean factory floor, you can build powered tiles that provide electric coverage directly through the ground. Power only exists where powered concrete has actually been placed, so the default behaviour still feels like a proper tile-based system instead of one giant invisible power field.
This Factorio 2.0 rebuild keeps exact tile-by-tile powered floor coverage as the default, removes the old flib dependency, cleans up the crafting layout, supports Q / pipette behaviour, and includes optional UPS tuning for very large factories or multiplayer servers.

🧱 Clean Crafting Menu
The crafting menu is kept focused on the actual floor tiles players need.
| Visible Floor Tile | Description |
|---|---|
| Stone Brick | Vanilla floor tile |
| Concrete | Vanilla concrete |
| Hazard Concrete | Vanilla hazard concrete |
| Refined Concrete | Vanilla refined concrete |
| Refined Hazard Concrete | Vanilla refined hazard concrete |
| Powered Concrete | Powered floor coverage |
| Powered Hazard Concrete | Powered hazard floor coverage |
| Powered Refined Concrete | Powered refined floor coverage |
| Powered Refined Hazard Concrete | Powered refined hazard floor coverage |
Extra conversion and hazard-marking recipes are kept hidden so the crafting UI stays clean.
🧠 How It Works
When powered concrete is placed, the mod creates invisible electric connectors under powered floor cells. These hidden connectors provide electrical coverage while keeping the surface visually clean.
The system tracks tile placement and removal from players, robots, mining, and script-based tile changes so the hidden power network stays synced with the actual powered floor.
Powered Concrete does not make the whole map powered. The floor only carries electric coverage where powered concrete exists.
🛠️ Settings
Powered Concrete includes one startup setting for tuning accuracy and performance.
| Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Powered Concrete Connector Grid Size | Controls how many powered floor tiles are grouped behind each hidden connector |
⚙️ Connector Grid Options
| Value | Behaviour | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Exact tile-by-tile powered floor coverage. This is the default. | Normal play, clean builds, safest behaviour |
| 4 | Groups powered floor into 4×4 connector cells. | Large bases and multiplayer servers |
| 8 | Larger connector cells with fewer hidden connectors. | Huge paved factories where UPS matters more |
| 16 | Maximum grouping and lowest connector count. | Extreme city-block paving and testing |
Higher values can reduce hidden connector count, but power coverage becomes cell-based instead of perfectly exact inside each cell.
Default: 1
⭐ Recommended Settings
For normal gameplay and the cleanest behaviour:
| Setting | Recommended Value |
|---|---|
| Powered Concrete Connector Grid Size | 1 |
For large factories or multiplayer servers:
| Setting | Recommended Value |
|---|---|
| Powered Concrete Connector Grid Size | 4 |
For huge paved city-block bases where UPS matters most:
| Setting | Recommended Value |
|---|---|
| Powered Concrete Connector Grid Size | 8 or 16 |
🔁 Migration From PoweredConcreteSpaceAge
Version 1.2.2+ includes migration support from the deprecated PoweredConcreteSpaceAge 0.1.x mod.
Matching old PCSA items, placed tiles, recipes, and hidden powered-tile poles are migrated into the main Powered_Concrete prototype names.
The old mod is marked incompatible so both versions do not accidentally load together.
For safest results:
- Remove the old deprecated PoweredConcreteSpaceAge mod.
- Add this main Powered Concrete mod.
- Load your save.
- Run
/powered-concrete-rebuildif you want to force-refresh the hidden connector network.
Optional PCSA / Krastorio reinforced powered plates are not converted because Powered Concrete does not currently define replacement prototypes for those variants.
🔄 Rebuild Command
If your powered floor network ever needs to be rebuilt or refreshed, you can run:
/powered-concrete-rebuild
This rebuilds all hidden powered concrete connector nodes.
Use it after changing the connector grid startup setting, testing old saves, recovering from heavy scripted tile edits, or checking a migration from the old deprecated Space Age fork.
Only admins can run this command.
🧪 Behaviour Notes
- Powered floor only provides coverage where powered concrete has been placed
- Default mode is exact tile-by-tile coverage
- Larger connector grid sizes are optional UPS tuning modes
- Conversion-style recipes are intentionally hidden from the normal crafting UI
- The four powered floor recipes unlock with concrete research
- Hidden connectors are rebuilt automatically on load or configuration changes
- The rebuild command is included as a manual safety tool
- This mod does not require Space Age
- This mod should not be loaded together with the old deprecated PoweredConcreteSpaceAge fork
🔗 Compatibility
Powered Concrete is built for Factorio 2.0.
This version updates the original concept for modern Factorio with cleaner runtime syncing, updated prototype handling, no old flib dependency, Q / pipette support, hidden conversion cleanup, optional UPS connector tuning, and migration support from the deprecated Space Age fork.
Works on its own
You do not need Space Age installed for Powered Concrete to work.
Old mod migration
Powered Concrete is intended to be the main replacement for the old deprecated PoweredConcreteSpaceAge version.
Do not load both versions together.
📌 Design Goal
The goal of Powered Concrete is simple:
Make clean factories easier to build without making electric coverage feel free or global.
It is meant to sit between vanilla power poles and a fully invisible power grid:
- Cleaner than pole spam
- More controlled than global hidden power
- Exact by default
- Tunable for big bases
- Useful for clean bus builds, malls, city blocks, and polished factory floors

💬 Final Note
Powered Concrete is for players who want cleaner, sharper factories where the floor does more than just look good.
Perfect for big bases, clean bus builds, malls, city blocks, and factory floors where visible power poles get in the way.
