This could actually be useful since I would imagine that other train related stuff can work with roads as well. If you were to somehow make a single road represent a 2 lane rail instead of a 1 lane then you might be able to put trucks (retextured trains) on the roads and have them move around between truck stops (retextured train stops) - but only if this is the direction you want to take this mod :)
