Destroy infinite resource when they reach their minimum value. No strong in-game balance test have been done yet, we recommend to set high value for your "infinite" resource richness to compensate. This mod should remove already depleted resource if you add it to a save, it's also save to remove at anytime. It's recommend to make a backup save in case you didn't like your resource have disappear.

Tips:

  • Coal liquefaction is now very useful ! Use your excess of vanilla coal !
  • Maybe set Oil (or other infinite resource you have) richness a little higher (200%)
  • Make a backup if you add this on a save in case you didn't like this mod.

Why

This mod goal is to have more immersive gameplay, more "real", on earth oil is not infinite when there is not enough pressure you stop getting oil, this mod reflect this. Some mod already exist to make infinite resource finite, this mod take a different approach to not do that but just destroy resource when depleted. This is because in factorio infinite resource are not just infinite, their behavior on mining is not linear, on normal resource whatever there is left to mine your speed/productivity doesn't change. On infinite resource the more yield the resource have the more you get, while I don't have exact number a resource of 1000% is incredible better than find 10 resources of 100%. Also, this behavior was very close to reality, the more pressure a oil chamber have the more flow you get. I wanted to keep this gameplay difference.

Future plan:

  • Instead of destroy the resource, we could change the requirement to mine it, have a "stage 2" to retrieve a little more resource, different technique exist to extract more oil by for example increase the pressure in oil chamber. This would also to compensate the loose of infinite yielding.
  • Balance testing
