g Craft Nearby Ghosts - beyond 1000 tiles from origin

I thought I was crazy because all of a sudden my "craft nearby ghost" button didn't work anymore with no error printed. So I started digging and after some debug (I have no idea what I'm doing and this took me forever) - I noticed that in most areas of my factory, It would work fine, But when I would get to close to the southern border - my seed started me on a huge peninsula with only the southern half being open to the rest of the continent - this is where it would stop working. So made the mod print the area it was searching for ghosts, I realized it was searching an area (basically) limited to 1000 tiles form origin.

Does this effectively limit the size your factory can be (well, the area that craftnearbyghosts can be used) to 1000 tiles in each direction?

And if so - what stops us from increasing this size? In your code comments, it says 10,000 is fine, so what made you stick with 1000?
Could this be made into a settings option to increase the size for players who have larger bases? I don't know what issues this would cause.
