I'm using a mod called Hardcorio:SC2 that has different type of fish (tiny, small and normal). The idea is to feed the fish till they get to the normal size, then take them out of the water for food. The problem is that the fish catcher inserter picks up any fish, even with the filter set to only the normal fish.

Can you ask by the hsc2 the new types of catched fishes? The inserter supports filtering and if the result of the mined fish has another name, then you can filter it too.
For example the entity "small-fish" on mining gives "small-fish" item and the filter in the insetter will support it.

The mod creator replied with the following:
This mod does not filter on fish. It allows you to catch fish from a reservoir, which is happening now without modifications. More precisely: the mod turns the fish into an item, provided that from the fish an item is obtained that matches the filter. Another fish is caught “without filter”, provided that the inserter works (only a factorio developer can change this).

Fish filter works as expected.

My bad, after few minutes it was wrong fish in the chest.

So I cannot filter them, the mod is not needed.

I'm unsure what you mean by the mod is not needed. Can your mod not filter the fish it catches?

No, vanilla filters inserters do not respect filters by fishing.

Ok. I've added a prototype setting and made them respect the filters.

The mod will be deprecated or not updated to 0.18, done the same in vanilla.

That is great. Thank you. I wish more mods made use of fish/tree farming (though I do not think this is a popular statement)
