It only says "beep" when you're trying to configure belt connections (or circuit connection direction). There's nothing meaningful to configure with belts (since the belt connection transfer rate is determined by the belt speeds, and the belt connection direction is determined by the belt direction), so it says "beep" to indicate that nothing is actually happening.
