I've built two Mk3s: one for powerplant (output energy flow) and one for smeltery (input energy flow). But both of them are shown as energy producers and as energy consumers...
That's just how Factorio works. For example, if you have 100 steam engines and only one is producing power, then the graph will still show a 100 next to the steam engine icon.
