g Created a mod "Disco Science Lite"

Hi,

I recently created a mod called "Disco Science Lite", borrowing the name from Disco Science. I’ve also applied the MIT license. I apologize for reaching out after the fact, but I’d appreciate it if you could be aware of it.
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/disco-science-lite

  • Includes algorithmic UPS optimizations, such as chunk-based intersection checks with the player viewport (Technical Details).
  • Implements an API compatible with Disco Science and extends it to support custom animations tailored to different lab shapes.
  • Adds native support for Biolabs and planet-adding mods like Space Age.

If you’re not comfortable with me using the name, I’m happy to rename the mod, so please let me know.

Thank you again for creating such a great mod.

Hi Mokkosu, thanks for the heads up. You’re 100% welcome to the name. I originally wanted to do viewport-only rendering, but I was just getting started with the API and couldn't figure out how to do it. This is obviously a much more efficient approach to the problem.

Hi, thanks a lot! I really appreciate you being okay with the name.

Viewport-only rendering was definitely tricky to implement. I did think about feeding it back into the original mod, but the structure ended up being quite different, so I gave up on that idea. Sorry about that.

I've added a note in the README, but just in case any questions about Disco Science Lite end up coming your way, sorry in advance. I'm subscribed to the Discussions, so I'll try to keep an eye on things and respond where I can.

Thanks again for the great mod.
