So, I got the the part of the game where I am collecting my first bit of planetary data, but I can't seem to figure out what to do with it. Is this part unfinished, or am I missing something?

You're meant to be able to craft it into Space Science, among other things later. However, it is currently unfinished. My suggestion would be to save it until you can actually use it once I finish the space stuff.
