When I put stuff in trunk of new friends they put it back in my inventory after building
Is this intended mechanic or a bug?

Yeah and it's kinda broken. You can filter their trunk slots to keep a stack of logistic drones, fuel, or repair packs But they will just dump everything they carry on them whenever they do any construction order.
