Overview

Adds a recipe for turning coal ore and water into crude oil. Unlocked as part of basic oil processing.

  • This recipe's purpose is to allow for gameplay without natural oil well spawns, both intentional as "defined in world generation settings" and unlucky as defined by "2 hours driving around CAN'T FIND OIL ANYWHERE"
  • Not eligible for productivity bonuses.

Adds a recipe for turning coal ore, steam and some crude oil into heavy oil. Unlocked alongside advanced oil processing.

  • This recipe's purpose is to provide a low-throughput option for making lubricant. Aims to balance the inconvenience of avoiding oil byproducts by having a more complex setup.
  • Less efficient for petroleum products than coal->oil->advanced oil processing

[Recommended] Includes a startup setting to give Coal Liquefaction a facelift in the context of this mod.

  • The change makes liquefaction a clear upgrade of the coal->crude oil recipe, which will also output heavy and light oil. The process will now take petroleum gas as an input to facilitate the process. Overall I felt these changes led to some interesting designs and allowed for switching to a more efficient oil processing design after reaching purple science.

Other Information

Can can be added to a game in-progress.

Can be used with oil wells normally - only adds options/content, nothing is removed.

Closing thoughts

Recipes should be decently balanced. Please let me know if anything seems broken!
