To anyone coming here now, another modder informed me that if you don't want to wait follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the folder mods are stored in (Appdata/Roaming/Factorio/Mods)
2. Open the .zip file of your mod with 7zip (I don't have Winrar so I can't confirm if it works or not, worth a shot though)
3. Open the file "info.json" and change the line "factorio_version":"2.0", to "factorio_version":"2.1",
4. Save the file, it should now launch and be compatible with Factorio 2.1
This won't work with every mod, but most mods that only require Factorio as a dependency should work (this mod included)
