It's possible to use barrels as burning power source
Filter inserters won't evacuate empty barrels from boilers. Regular inserters evacuate filled barrels.

Why not mod the base inserters with this ability in this mod?
It's need too much performance for megabases. If you check only one inserter/tick, then reaction by special inserter will be much faster, you have just less of them.
