i just recently thought that teh biology side of Factorio is not really well tendend for.
I also have thought along some combination of biternests and resources, although not a nest which will protect the ores.
My thoughts along are more like better mining of resources (ores and fluids) with biter nests, not strictly your mod, but probably fitting
Its not all really thought through, so like more shower toughts but still…
• General recipe for this biominer could be following the biter-spawner-recipe (biter-spawner, iron/copper/stone ore) with a probably surviving
• Captured or researched should give you a placeable biological mining drill / pumpjack
o should be like a better big mining drill with more range, and better inbuild productivity, should outout a full stacked green belt
o probably need some nutrients (maybe some sort of a nutrient fluid (bioflux+nutrient+water+lube)
• As the nests are native to Nauvis you could have some trained biominers for other planets (if one can make the restriction as placing or even the resource to mine)
o Train the biominer with the feed of the resources and/or the biosphere product of the other planets (like for aquilo – ice and ammonia; Fulgora – scrap and heavy oil)(only on nauvis training)
o This training could have a low probability of surviving biominers
• Following this up one could have some specialized production biter nest as improved production
o For fulgora a nest could act as recycler to break down the scrap to bare intermediates like iron/copper/plasti c……
o On Gleba a nest which can make agriculture science directly from yumako and jelly
o This nests could probably have a in build quality module like the inbuild prod in the big miner
o At very last this nests maybe can suck on astreoids in space to be more effective as the crushers there

You should probably add some way to restrict your mod to nauvis or to all planets loaded (at least my next run will include other planets also)
