b bot battery Research crashing game

I was playing and out of no where my screen froze and forced me to force close the game from the system monitor (linux) and after a small test and looking at the error log that was posted the "Worker Robot Battery Research 3" is crashing the game every time it try's to complete. The save is being hosted on a my PC and I moved it over to a headless local server and still the exact same thing happens even without all my mods a fresh game with only the core mods needed. I do have space age install hope this is fixed soon thx <3

Hey, thanks a lot for the report!

Just to let you know: I’m currently playing with this mod myself on a headless server hosted externally, and it’s been running for many hours without any crashes, including all battery research levels – also with Space Age installed and a lot more mods active.

If you could provide a log file and/or a savegame, that would really help me figure out what might be going wrong in your case.

It could be a special interaction or something unrelated triggering the issue – happy to look into it! 😊

Hey, thanks again for the report and for sending the log file!

I’ve carefully reviewed the log and couldn’t find any errors or crash traces related to my mod (Better Robots Extended), especially not the robot battery research. No Lua errors, no invalid data, no failed tech effects.

I also tried to reproduce the issue multiple times, including on a dedicated headless server with Space Age and many other mods – and completed the research without any crashes.

You mentioned that the issue occurs even "without all your mods", but according to the log, many mods were still loaded, including:

Gravity Assembler (throws duplicate recipe warnings)

Blueprint Sandboxes and its illusions module (tries to access non-existent SE entities)

PlutoniumEnergy, MergingChests, and more

Several of these cause warnings or issues, especially near the end of the log. The actual crash is not caused by Lua (no script traceback), but ends with a generic engine error – which suggests a deeper mod interaction or engine-related problem.

If you could share a savegame just before the crash, that would help a lot to analyze the situation further.

Thanks again, and happy to investigate more with your help!

Hey, thanks again for your detailed report and the save file – that really helped a lot!

After testing your save and checking everything in detail, I was finally able to reproduce the issue – and the freeze is caused by a conflict with the mod "Blueprint Sandbox".

When Blueprint Sandbox is active, completing the robot battery research (especially level 3) can cause the game to freeze. This is most likely due to how it interacts with tech trees, count_formula, and upgrade chains.

Without Blueprint Sandbox, everything works completely fine – even with Space Age and other mods enabled.

Since the issue seems to be caused by Blueprint Sandbox's handling of research progression, I recommend reaching out to the author of Blueprint Sandbox to report the bug. They may be able to fix or work around it on their side.

I’ll also add a compatibility warning to my mod’s description, so others are aware of the issue.

Thanks again for helping identify this – great catch! 😊
