Overview

This mod adds beacon overloading to the game with the goal keeping the balance of the game as close vanilla as possible. Over time I began to realize that achieving "vanilla level balance" was far more complicated than I originally thought. I've split beacons into two tech unlocks to try and balance early/late game progression. I've also split them into "regular" and overclocked" to try and balance 8/12 beacon build philosophy. Ultimately, I've found that space and resource requirements are still overpowered despite my balancing efforts, but I've come to just accept that as an imbalance inherent the different gameplay approach.

Factorio 2.0

This mod was built and designed around 1.1. I've had this mod sitting on my computer for a long time now. I originally made it because at the time the other beacon overloading mods did things that drastically changed balance in some way or another and I wanted a more "vanilla" overloaded experience. When the 2.0 update came out it completely threw my balance off. I think the changes to beacons in 2.0 make this mod less appealing, but I figured someone may still want this mod. I haven't done much testing for 2.0 as I don't have as much time to play Factorio anymore, so if someone else has some tweaks they think would make the beacons more balanced for Space Age or Krastorio2 let me know in the discussion.

Misc Info

I threw in a setting for productivity and quality modules because it was so easy and seemed fun. It's very untested and wasn't the focus of this mod. Obviously, I didn't balance the mod around this, but I don't mind working on it if there are some weird unexpected bugs because it seems a lot of people download similar mods and probably want the option supported.

I added support for Krastorio2 at the last minute. It alters singularity beacons. Very minimal amount of effort was put into trying to keep the balance of singularity beacons similar to regular K2 beacons, but it's there.
