Xander Mod was briefly mentioned in the Factorio Discord and that led me to investigate the rough scope and structure of the mod. It's almost entirely data-only; there are no complicated runtime scripts or cross-mod integrations going on.
It also has an interesting implementation for its graphics, where it merely recurses through the prototype and replaces the old filepaths with the new ones.
That is to say, it's surprisingly amenable to being ported, and I'm surprised nobody had tried to do it sooner. I am however, brand-new to the mod (and I don't know what half the words mean). :P
If you've played Xander Mod in the past, I don't suppose you could tell me about Porcelain tiles? They're displayed quite prominently on the thumbnail and so I take it they're kind of a signature for this mod? But the player doesn't have any way to place them in the world.
I've read through the old changelogs and I don't know if the player was able to make these tiles in the past, but it was removed due to some balancing concern.
I have an idea that it could be added to the "Concrete 2" technology. You would combine Refined concrete and the Porcelain item to make a separate "Porcelain tile" item that can be placed like you would expect.
