I'm aware of the general feature request, see https://github.com/SWeini/sw-rates/issues/24
Feel free to reply over there.
Since I'm not playing Space Age myself I do need a bit of a push to implement it, and I have some open questions.
To do that you definitely need to include pipes/belts/inserters in the selection tool. Is this OK for non-Aquilo environment or does it clutter the selection too much? Would it disturb much if the selection tool didn't show the pipes/belts/inserters, but I'd still use all of those inside the selection area?
If a building only needs to run 20% of the time, is it ok to provide only 20% of the heat? Probably not, it still consumes heat all the time and you don't want it to freeze temporarily, is that correct?
The GUI at the moment doesn't have a way to show per-building rates of a specific item/fluid/heat. So all you'd see is this (fictional numbers):
2 buildings, 10 pipes, 50 underground pipes, 20 belts, 4 inserters
ingredient 2.8 MW of heat (total for everything)
If you include a heat generating building you will know whether you produce enough heat, but that's about all. No per-entity-type or per-entity heat consumption anywhere.
Is this enough, or is this feature meaningless without seeing the per-underground-pipe cost in relation to the per-normal-pipe cost or the total-underground-pipe cost in relation to the total-normal-pipe cost?
