Commenting out the starting inventory (control.lua 53-75) then manually adding the items with console does the trick.
Seems for some reason the main inventory is not availlable and adding the starter items. I fixed the inventory issue. I uploaded a hotfixed version to google drive:

Please note. This is juste a hotfix and by no means a way to hijack the mod. As soon as PyroFire has published a new working version I will remove the link. Also I didn't change the version.
I didn't change the version so your next version could be pulled automatically from within the game. As i said, this is just a hotfix. Not ment to be used forever.
